I have used Bernat Blanket yarn for various projects since the initial crochet-a-long. Other than blankets, I have used this yarn for a mermaid tail and an amigurumi bunny for my niece. My daughter has also used this for a couple of her projects, one aptly named “The Behemoth”. The Bernat baby blanket seen in the first photo is what she is using for one of her current blankets, which also looks to be quite large.
I made an afghan for a friend’s daughter who was looking for the squishy, fuzzy feel of the yarn, and I found it in the perfect colors in Purple Sunset. The last project that I used this yarn for was another blanket; this one was a self-striping blue and a solid grey that I had in my stash for a while.
Bernat offers some great color combinations for variegated yarns and great coordinating solids. It is found in various sizes of skeins, 10.5oz/300g or 5.3oz/150g primarily, but there are other sizes depending on the line of Bernat Blanket. Being a bulky yarn, this yarn works up quickly, but you can go through yarn quickly if you have purchased the smaller skeins available. Bernat blanket yarn makes a snuggly blanket that can keep you warm in any situation. The blankets we have also work great as substitute weighted blankets. I can attest to this; I tried a weighted blanket before, and it wasn’t for me, but the Bernat yarn blankets are a perfect option for me. With the large variety of colors available, you should be able to find the perfect color(s) for your blanket or other project.
Both my daughter and I would recommend this yarn for your next blanket using super bulky yarn. It is her go-to yarn for all the blankets she crochets, baby blankets, full-size, and oversized. I have enjoyed it for all of the projects that I have used it on.
