About the Girl behind Becca Jean’s World

Hi Everyone,

I’m Becky, a crocheter, a reader and a lover of the outdoors.

Book Love

I have read books as long as I can remember. I remember my parents making me reread a book in like 4th grade because they thought I read it too fast and didn’t retain what I read. Whether I retained it or not escapes me now but my love of reading has stuck through the years. I always have a book that I’m in the middle of, starting or almost done with. I am always looking for new authors or new series’.

Crochet Love

I taught myself to crochet from one of those kits that you can get at the craft stores. It took a couple of tries but I was hooked (pun intended) when I figured it out ;). I prefer to make things for the home and am looking to expand my skills as a designer and share my love of crochet. I love collecting and finding new yarn to use.

Outdoor Love

My love of the outdoors has come about later in my life. I enjoyed different outdoor activities over the years. In the last 10 years, it has really become a happy place for me. I love when spring comes and I can pull my bicycle out of the shed and ride and ride and ride :). Hiking and camping are also summer must do activities, since buying a travel trailer I’m even more obsessed.

Places for awesome hiking and cycling

I’ve thought of starting a blog for a while and finally got the nerve to try it. I wasn’t sure on the niche that I wanted to go with as I, obviously, have a number of hobbies that I enjoy. I read a blog post about having a focus instead of a niche and that fit more into what I was looking for.

The next hurdle was finding that right domain name. I thought of a couple of good ones only to find that they were taken, one was even using a play on my dogs names. Then one night at work I thought of Becca Jean’s World, because really that’s what all of my hobbies are and it was available! Plus my daughter loved it.

Now as you can see I go by Becky not Rebecca or Becca. A friend and I gave each other southern nicknames being the silly people we are based off of our given names. So thanks for the inspiration Bobby Ray.
