The Staggered Windows Afghan Pattern Design Story
The Staggered Windows Afghan Pattern came about as a wedding present design. An out-of-town wedding for a close friend’s son helped inspire this design. Unable to make the wedding, I chose to design something for the couple that was just for them. They live in the south so I wanted to design something that would be appropriate for their weather.
This post is a design of Becca Jean’s World. Find the full Terms and Conditions here.

I explored using their wedding colors but decided to go with an off-white design that was classic and timeless. I chose to use Lion Brand Hometown in Houston Cream for the afghan pattern. There was also limited time to complete the gift since they had a short engagement.

I went with a bulky yarn that would work up quickly because I had only a short time to complete the project. Little did I realize how quickly I would go through a skein of this yarn for my design. Most of the skeins that I got were the 5 oz size found in the link above but I did get a couple of the 10 oz skeins which was nice.

Upon finishing the afghan, I had yarn left but only enough to get through one pillow. I took a couple of granny square patterns from one of my pattern books and made them big enough to be on each side of the pillow.
